{1. shiitake mushrooms 2. HUGE tuna collar 3. duck no robatayaki = BEST duck dish I’ve ever had}
When I was asking around for their favorite sushi/japanese place in Seattle, my friend Stacy recommended Issian {one of her all-time favorite places to eat}. So N. and I decided to go there for my birthday on Friday.
Well, I was not disappointed (except for the octopus w/ wasabi salad). And my absolute favorites are their sashimi and duck robatayaki. I’m definitely going back to try more things on their menu (plus more duck)!
In a nutshell?
+ fresh sashimi
+ good kushiyaki
+ cheap prices
+ great service

that duck is looking so yummy.
omg, angel. it is!!! perfectly seared duck meat on a bed of rice cracker + mixed spring greens. sauce is mixed balsamic + duck fat (maybe?). top relish is spring onions with avocado or something i forgot.
Glad you liked it, Angie! The duck and their sashimi are two of my faves!
they are mine, too! thanks again, stacy. you’re like my go-to food guru now.
The photos of the food look so good!!!! Gorgeous photos! I went to Seattle with my husband many years ago and went to my friend’s favorite sushi restaurant there. I can’t remember the name! It was sooooo good! I remember thinking the fish was so fresh and absolutely delicious in Seattle. At the time we lived in land locked Austin, Texas, so it felt extra special to have sushi near the water! Robatayaki looks mouth watering! I love sashimi, too. Even though I am Japanese, I favor the American style sushi.
ohhh, you should visit seattle again so i can take you to more sushi places in seattle!
YumO!
I love the duck it looks delicious :D

Why have I not been here before! This may now be included in my weekend plans. :)
go, go! then let me know what you think of it. :-)
I actually went on Friday night! Loved their selection of fish collar–we ended up ordering the salmon collar which was one of the specials. The sashimi plate was delicious as well. I was surprised that their Yelp average was only 3.5 stars. Puzzling! I was very impressed, and will definitely be back. Thanks for sharing!
so glad you liked it! we should meet up one of these days and eat there again. :-D
